Delicious Colourful Kueh

There is no doubt about it: ACCOUNTING ASSIGNMENTS SUCK.

Yesterday we printed and handed in the suckiest one to date. My brain is still in zombie mode :(.... and when you're trying to switch out of your exam brain, you know there is one thing that will never fail you! And that something is.. *strikes superman pose*.. the yumminess of freshly baked kueh!

My sister bought these for me as a surprise the other day :-)

Sweet Green and White Layered Bean KuehSweet Green and White Layered Bean Kueh

A typical layered nonya kueh! It is sweet and a bit starchy - use a fork to delicately cut into the sweet layers, or forget what your parents said about playing with your food and peel them off one-by-one

Wild and Black Sticky Rice KuehWild Rice and Black Sticky Rice Kueh

This kueh is chewy and dense
You have to eat this in small bites to really taste the glutinous rice
Man, aren't the colours so cool :)

Custard Egg KuehCustard Egg Kueh

Soft and wobbly, this kueh was falling apart almost before I could spoon it into my mouth! It had a very rich and eggy flavour, is good in small doses, but not so good if you try and eat half the kueh in one go, which is what I did (o__________o;)

Baked Tapioca KuehBaked Tapioca Kueh

This kueh had been baked for so long even the edges were crunchy! Tapioca kueh has a mild flavour, it's more about the thick, rice-like texture, with the sweet undertone of palm sugar. Mmmm, palm sugar~~

In other news, one of my thongs snapped on Saturday :(
So I went thong shopping today
At the thong shop:

Shop assistant to girl in front of me: HI LOVELY! FOURTEEN DOLLARS THANKS
Girl: *hands over cash*

Shop assistant: THANKS LOVELY. NEXT PLEASE

And then, as I walk up to the counter;

Shop assistant: HI LOVELY!

Hahaha

I think I may start calling everyone Lovely from now on
