'Hey you know there's a restaurant in Capitol that serves their pineapple fried rice in an actual pineapple?' says DK enthusiastically.
Helen's head nods up and down like a bobble head dog. The novelty value of having our food served in a whole pineapple is irresistible and so we make our way to Bangkok. I have never been before, or been served a whole pineapple, so it is all very exciting. A pineapple! A whole pineapple! Bangkok Thai Restaurant is nestled in the strip of restaurants on the ground level of Capitol Square, next to Yuumei and Passionflower. We are excited about pineapple
Im retarded so I forgot to take my camera, it's lucky that mobile phones these days are so advanced, they all come equipped with 50 megapixel cameras. these photos are all stolen off DK's phone
Our Thai Papaya salad comes first, with crisp slices of golden pork belly and a heap of zesty carrot slices.
Then came our Pineapple! with pineapple fried rice insideYeah! pineapple!
All up we spend around $55 for three dishes
- pineapple fried rice!
- zesty papaya salad, and
- red duck curry with juicy I-go-pop-in-your-mouth cherry tomatoes
The trouble was I had a $20 voucher (aka LICENSE TO EAT ICECREAM) at Passionflower, which was next door. but we were sooo full
Did our groaning stomachs stop us?
...puh-lease. We are 1. asians and 2. pov university students
Offer us free food and we will jump.
