Poporo, Level 3 @ Market City Sydney

Three hours between lectures and nothing to do??

THE SOLUTION -- grab lunch, dinner, a drink or dessert at Poporo, a futuristic Japanese restaurant with LCD touchscreen menus, glass-beaded lights, bright-orange decor and big funny white seats, guaranteed to fit any size buttocks! hehe

Poporo sits at the top level of Market City, next to the international food court and opposite games arcade Galaxy World (you can go and play DDR afterwards, just make sure you don't eat too much!)

Poporo's Renkon Bacon & Basil Japanese SpaghettiRenkon (lotus root) Bacon & Basil Japanese Spaghetti

The Japanese spaghetti came served with classic bacon and mushroom bits and a mild, creamy sauce. Slices of crisp, almost-a-potato-chip renkon sat prettily on top of young green basil leaves.

The rest of Poporo's menu was equally interesting, with Japanese-style burgers, OMURICE! (fried rice tucked into an omelette with tomato sauce), sweet katsu curry, fried KFC-style chicken pieces, pork cutlets or large deep-fried prawns with rice (yomm). The menu definitely has enough on it to allow for many many visits, which is great for UTS students especially because it's right next door!

Poporo's Japanese Chocolate and Banana DessertChocolate cake Rollette with Icecream and Banana slices Dessert

This chocolate and banana dessert was nice and cool and delicate. The thin roll of chocolate cake was carefully held in place by a single bamboo skewer :O

Fresh banana slices and chopped peanuts went well with the creamy choc icecream. The elegant presentation of this dessert was friggin hard to maintain once I started unravelling, but you probably won't give a toss about that once you get the first spoonful in your mouth :)

Sign for Poporo Japanese Restaurant @ Market CityThe food came out so quickly we hardly had time to stow our textbooks out of sight. It took us the whole of 20 minutes to scoff down our delicious meal, and when we put our cutlery down we realised there were still more than two hours left to kill. What to do? Well, the lunch rush being over, the friendly Poporo staff didn't seem to mind when we stuck around for the next hour or so (are we sad or what)

I think we made an attempt to study our finance notes... but somehow ended up talking about the pros & cons of Japan, Hong Kong and the USA as destinations for international exchange as usual haha
