Korean Food: Campsie & Chung Jin Dong, Sydney

KOREAN FOOD PHOTO DUMP

KOREAN RESTAURANT #1
The following dishes are from a small Korean restaurant in Campsie (on a small lane off Beamish St, near the train station, don't know what it's called!). Haha there were only two non-blurry photos~~

Colourful Bibimbap, Korean Restaurant Campsie, SydneyColourful Bibimbap

With a good Korean bibimbap, your metal bowl should be really sizzling hot. Hot enough to burn your fingers on (so be careful) but when you've finished eating the assorted veggies and meats on top, you should find a deliciously crispy browned rice bottom, which has been busy frying away the whole time on your table :)

Korean Side Dishes at a Korean Restaurant in Campsie, SydneySide dishes are the best thing about eating Korean :)
Clockwise from top, there was the usual kimchi (pickled chilli cabbage), chilli beansprouts, shredded spinach, iced beansprouts, sweet chilli bamboo, and spiced sweet potato leaves

Different K restaurants have their own specialty side dishes, so even if you're addicted bulgogi beef and order it no matter where you go, never fear! you can still get your dose of variety from the sides.

KOREAN RESTAURANT #2
Outside Chung Jin Dong (on Pitt St), the sign says "Real Korean Food"
LOL.. we were intrigued~~

Compact and friendly

There were colour photographs of the food up on the walls, so we ditched the menus. I don't order beef very often because it so often turns out overcooked and gristly, but my sister was convinced that bulgogi beef would be good, so we went for it

Chung Jin Dong Korean Side Dishes SydneyMore Korean Side Dishes

Check out the honeyed potato and carrot pieces with sesame seeds on top! They were the best the best the best ! We totally couldn't stop eating them. Haha I even ordered double servings of side dishes just so we could have more honeyed potato mmmm. UNFORTUNATELY, this also meant double the amount of kimchi, which we almost died trying to finish = = ;

Bulgogi beef, Chung Jin Dong, Korean restaurant SydneyBeef bulgogi!

As promised, the bulgogi beef was deliciously juicy and sweet, swimming in its marinade, with chopped shallots and sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Glassy potato noodles were slippery yet chewy, dripping with flavour from the bulgogi soup

Ahhh. Bulgogi beef is officially my new favourite Korean dish!

>lisaaargh (LOL); oooh you mean manmaruya? I STILLL haven't gone there yet! was that the place you went to for dinner after ice skating ? hahah we were gonna go there for dinner but mum was like NOPE, I want Korean not jap

oh and yaaa there is this $12 all-you-can-eat korean buffet in the city that we must go to XD

>lisalicious; emm.. bibimbap has a pretty mild flavour, the toppings aren't heavily marinated.. the veggies were mostly steamed i think, to let you enjoy all the diff textures & colours! yup and the freshness
and i remember the whole bowl (rice especially) had a fragrant sesame oil sort of smell

oh but if you break the pool of chilli oil under the raw egg, that sauce will make the whole bibimbap taste SUUPER spicy (I usually scoop it off >] but ahah if u live in malaysia you should be able to take it right x)
