Today is the first day of a Chinese new year!
My house is filled with the earthy smell of smoking joss sticks.
Mum shepherds us to the altar as soon as we tumble out of bed.
She instructs us: 'take two joss sticks and hold between your palms. Bow to sky gods. Then close your eyes and think of all the things you wish for in the new year. Good health, prosperity, good fortune.'
'And good job - I always wish good job for you' she laughs.
Anyway I have been flickrwhoring my sunday morning away
here are some awesome chinese new yearsy photos -
Lucky Mandarin oranges are associated with good luck and given to friends and family during the Chinese New Year period. (I swear we never do this... we usually give away boxes of lindt and ferrero rochers haha... and mangoes)
Rabbid fried noodles LOL

The scariest wall of chinese sausages I have ever seen
Happy stuffed tigers!
Sooo what's in store for 2010? I'm looking forward to
- 4 more months of full time A U D I T as an accounting intern
- 15 weeks of fashion illustration classes at sydney TAFE, and
- 6 months of exchange at Westminster University in London -- where I must must chase down black pudding, fish & chips from a street vendor, jellied eels (aha sounds gross?), Harrod's gourmet chocolates and Londonian indian curry !
